Garnicia
A downloadable tool for Linux
Garnicia
Garnicia was created out of a simple need: to have a notes app that respects the user.
It doesn’t require an account.
It doesn’t rely on the internet.
It doesn’t try to be more than it needs to be.
Garnicia works entirely offline. It uses standard .txt files inside a folder you choose, and keeps them accessible and editable at all times. Behind the interface, it maintains a local SQLite journal of your edits — so even in the event of a crash, your notes can be recovered.
This is not a minimalist app for aesthetic reasons. It's minimal because nothing more is necessary.
Core Features
- Plain Text Notes: Create and edit notes saved as standard .txt files.
- Offline Functionality: Operates entirely without internet connectivity.
- Crash Recovery: Maintains a local SQLite journal to recover unsaved changes in case of unexpected shutdowns.
- Simple Interface: Clean GTK-based UI with a split view — note list on the left, editor on the right.
- Inline Renaming: Rename notes directly within the app, enforcing lowercase filenames for consistency.
- Folder-Based Organization: Choose any folder on your system to store and manage your notes.
Garnicia is open source, offline-first, and yours to explore. No noise. No cloud. Just text.
